The Nigeria (in fact the world) that we're in right now makes it imperative that we start acquiring skills as early as possible.Summers spent lazying about are now a luxury, because you play for a minute and the older generation will have spent all the future resources today. All shade intended. It is hard though, when you have little kids, to figure out exactly what skills young people need to acquire.
That's why Bowale Agboade founded The Kid Entrepreneurs Club, an initiative created to ignite the entrepreneurial spirit in children through experience and project based learning. No, it isn’t about having children focus all their time on business instead of school, it is about helping kids develop necessary life skills, which, let's be honest will never be taught at school but can be learned while they run their own fun micro-businesses.
The Kid Entrepreneurs Club is the first Development Center in Nigeria for kids age 5 to 15. In December 2016, Bowale and the team organized Nigeria’s very first kids’ entrepreneurs fair in Lekki and had over 70 children-owned fully branded businesses in attendance, 350 people patronizing the businesses and, most importantly, a large number of the kids sold out.
The Kid Entrepreneurs Club have kids in businesses selling Chinese food, cookies, cocktails, artwork, baked goods, photography, scented candles and even a cleaning service business teaching kids their age to lay their beds and do their own laundry (adults can even pick good ideas from this list)!
For people wondering why kids should learn entrepreneurship, we'd like to let you know that Asahd Khaled (DJ'Khaled's son) is not even a year old and he has produced an entire album and guest-appeared on five international award shows (he was personally invited!), so what excuse do any of us really have?
